Bride's Checklist


6-12 Months before Your Wedding Day

  • Hire consultant/planner
  • Introduce your two sets of parents if they haven't already met.
  • Consult with fiancé and all parents about wedding budget and style.
  • Decide on the type of wedding and reception to include the size and degree of formality.
  • With the officiant's cooperation, set the date and time. Coordinate with reception site.
  • Make an appointment for a personal talk with the official. For Catholics, arrange attendance at Pre-Cana conferences.
  • Choose and ask attendants
  • Make out the guest list and ask the groom and his family to provide their lists as soon as possible. Tell the groom and his family how many they may invite to stay within the bride's limit. Using a card file or computer program helps.
  • Order the bridal gown and gowns for attendants.
  • Talk with official and organist about music, decoration and procedures.
  • Engage a caterer or reception site.
  • Engage a florist.
  • Engage a videographer and photographer.
  • Hire an orchestra, disc jockey or band, for music at the ceremony and reception.
  • Hire limousines or arrange transportation.
  • For a home wedding or reception, arrange maintenance and repairs.
  • Start to shop for household and personal trousseau.
  • Select china, crystal, silver, formal and everyday patterns, register with a bridal registry.


4-6 Months before Your Wedding Day

  • Order invitations and announcements.
  • Select and Order bridesmaids dresses.
  • Go apartment or house hunting.

2-3 Months before Your Wedding Day

  • Select gifts for bridesmaids and groom.
  • Notify bridesmaids about fittings and accessories.
  • Order the tuxedos for groom and groomsmen.
  • Detail plans with caterer or banquet manager - menu, seating arrangements, parking, etc.
  • Make medical, dental and hairdresser appointments.
  • Address and stuff invitations- or get envelopes early and do them.
  • Making housing arrangements for out-of-town guests.
  • Check state requirements for marriage license, sometimes a blood test is required.
  • Shop for your wedding rings.
  • Complete your honeymoon plans.
  • Arrange the Rehearsal Dinner.

6 Weeks before Your Wedding Day

  • Mail Invitations
  • Buy Groom's wedding gift.
  • Do a hair and make-up run through - can usually be coordinated for the bridal shower.
  • Look over your insurance papers with your fiancé'. You may need to make changes in your policies when converting from single to married.

2 Weeks before Your Wedding Day

  • Confirm the guest count & do the seating arrangements for the reception.
  • Give the final guest count to the caterer.
  • Have your final dress fitting.

1 Week before Your Wedding Day

  • Have a Manicure, Pedicure, facial and massage.
  • Pack for the honeymoon.
  • Appoint a trustworthy friend to bring the cake knife and server, toasting glasses and any other necessary items to the wedding site early.
  • They can also be responsible for bringing them home!
  • Place all tips and final fees in envelopes for the organist, soloist, minister, etc. on the big day

1 Day before Your Wedding Day

  • Greet your out of town guests.
  • Engage in some kind of stress free activity - go to lunch with the girls, take a long walk on the beach, exercise - anything that will release any bit of stress.
  • Schedule a manicure and pedicure touch up before the rehearsal dinner.
  • Attend the wedding rehearsal and dinner.


Your Wedding Day

  • Start the day right with breakfast…you'll need food for energy and nerves!
  • Relax…enjoy your day…let your coordinator work the magic.
